Middle School BuildingMartin Luther King, Jr. Academy, Marin City, California
This new building houses general and specialized classrooms as well as administrative offices for both the middle school and the school district. The multi-use room has been located close to the street to allow access for community use during non-school hours. A central courtyard provides an indoor-outdoor connection. Sustainable design features include daylighting and views, operable windows, and durable materials. A well-insulated building envelope, energy-efficient equipment and light fixtures, and lighting controls all contribute to increased energy efficiency.
