K-Pod Classroom BuildingBayside Elementary School, Sausalito, California
This new classroom building houses kindergarten, first and second grades and includes four classrooms and three small-group instruction rooms. Sustainable design features include daylighting, natural ventilation, passive solar heating, and energy efficiency. The main classrooms provide a dynamic teaching environment, and bay windows offer views of the San Francisco Bay. The building wings frame a new play yard with hardscape and turf for a variety of activities. A dedicated garden provides opportunities for outdoor teaching.
